The Consortium for Classical Lutheran Education (CCLE) is pleased to announce the appointment of Rev. Dr. Korey D. Maas to the CCLE Board of Scholars. He will also be a plenary speaker at the CCLE XXVI summer conference.
Rev. Dr. Maas serves as Associate Professor and Chairman of the History Department at Hillsdale College and as Assistant Pastor at St. Paul’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in Hillsdale, Michigan. A distinguished historian and scholar, Dr. Maas brings to the Board of Scholars a deep commitment to confessional Lutheranism, classical education, and the faithful transmission of the Christian intellectual tradition.
Dr. Maas earned his B.A. from Concordia University, Chicago, his Master of Divinity from Concordia Seminary, St. Louis, and his Doctor of Philosophy from the University of Oxford. He is the author and editor of numerous books, essays, and scholarly articles. He is currently co-editing a volume examining the relationship between the Reformation and the American Revolution—a topic that resonates particularly well with the CCLE XXVI conference theme, Foundations of Faith and Freedom, at which he will be a plenary speaker.
In addition to his academic and pastoral vocations, Dr. Maas and his wife, Kate, homeschool their five children on their small farm in southern Michigan. His life and work exemplify the integration of faith, family, scholarship, and leadership in classical Lutheran education that the CCLE seeks to cultivate and promote.
The CCLE Board of Scholars is an honorary, non-governing body formed to strengthen partnerships that further the mission of the CCLE. Membership on the Board of Scholars is awarded in recognition of noteworthy contributions and scholarly achievements in classical Lutheran education. The Board serves both to raise awareness of these accomplishments and to promote the work of the CCLE through formal affiliations with like-minded scholars. Through these relationships, the CCLE seeks to strengthen a network of mutual support for the sake of classical Lutheran education.
We are honored to welcome Dr. Maas to the Board of Scholars and look forward to his contributions to the work of the CCLE in the years ahead.
God be praised for the furtherance of classical Lutheran education!
In Christ,
Anna Martin
