Classical Exemplar Excellentiae Award

The Board of the Consortium for Classical Lutheran Education has established the Classical Exemplar Excellentiae Award for faculty of accredited CCLE schools to:

  • To promote excellence in the practice and understanding of classical Lutheran education

  • To recognize and honor excellence in classical Lutheran teaching


If you wish to apply for the Classical Exemplar Excellentiae Award, please review the whole application below to familiarize yourself with the requirements. All documentation should be emailed (as a zip file, portfolio, etc.) to executive.director@ccle.org by December 31, 2025. There is NO application fee.


The CCLE board will evaluate all applications and documentation. Decisions to award the Classical Exemplar Excellentiae Award will be made after consideration by the entire CCLE Board and announced in the spring 2026.


The recipient of the Classical Exemplar Excellentiae award will be officially recognized at our summer conference, CCLE XXVI, at Concordia University, Chicago. Eligibility and criteria for the Exemplar Excellentiae award includes:

  • faculty member of CCLE-accredited school (required)

  • CCLE-teacher certification (preferred)

  • sincere commitment to orthodox Lutheran theology

  • sincere commitment to classical education

  • thorough and demonstrable grasp of classical pedagogy

  • clear and professional communication style with students, parents, colleagues

  • consistent, caring, and firm disciplinary approach

  • a classroom appearance reflective of truth, goodness, and beauty

  • professional in demeanor and personal presentation
