Faith Lutheran School seeks a faithful and dedicated Lower School Teacher (Pre-K–5) who desires to serve in a fully integrated classical Lutheran environment. This position is more than instructional; it is vocational. The teacher will participate in forming students in wisdom and virtue under the lordship of Christ.

Position Summary
The Lower School Teacher cultivates foundational habits of learning, virtue, and joy in young students. In alignment with our Graduate Profile, the teacher helps students:
• Grow in faith through daily catechesis and integration of Scripture
• Delight in learning as participation in God’s ordered creation
• Develop the grammar of core subjects: reading, writing, mathematics, Latin, theology, history, and science
• Practice virtue in daily habits and relationships
The Lower School Teacher serves as a visible exemplar of the virtues we seek to form in our students.
Essential Responsibilities
Instruction & Formation
• Teach core subjects through a classical Lutheran framework.
• Emphasize “brilliance in the basics” in literacy, numeracy, and language.
• Integrate the liberal arts (grammar, logic, rhetoric) into age-appropriate instruction.
• Explicitly connect lessons to virtue formation and Christian vocation.
• Foster scholé — a restful, attentive classroom culture marked by wonder and order.
Spiritual Leadership
• Lead students in prayer, Scripture, and catechetical instruction.
• Model the right distinction of Law and Gospel in classroom discipline.
• Cultivate a joyful and ordered Christian classroom community.
Professional Excellence
• Plan thoroughly and teach with clarity and enthusiasm.
• Maintain consistent classroom expectations rooted in prudence and justice.
• Communicate proactively and charitably with parents.
• Participate in vertical team collaboration and faculty development.
• Pursue growth in classical pedagogy and Lutheran theology.
Desired Qualifications
• Confessing Lutheran committed to the Scriptures and the Lutheran Confessions.
• Bachelor’s degree (education or related field required; advanced degree preferred).
• Commitment to classical Lutheran education and willingness to pursue training (e.g., Colloquy if not rosterable and CCLE certification).
• Demonstrated classroom management grounded in virtue and charity.
• Strong content knowledge in elementary literacy and mathematics.
• Ability to collaborate joyfully within a unified faculty culture.
• Willingness to incorporate Latin in the lower school.
