Introduction to Latin I – Course Registration

This course will be taught by Andrew Bloch. The course covers 15 weeks of material with weekly live and recorded classes, quizzes, and interactive assignments to reinforce learning. Live lessons will be on Thursday nights at 7:00pm Central Time beginning January 9.

Course Description: This course will introduce students to the vocabulary and pronunciation of Latin, provide a familiarity with ancient authors, and teach the basics of Latin grammar. No previous instruction in Latin is necessary, but a good grasp of English grammar will be helpful. The course is designed to give you a basic understanding of Latin grammar, syntax, and pronunciation and will help build your vocabulary. You will be guided through class lectures, discussions, and passages from authentic Latin works.

Course Objectives: By the end of this course, the student will have achieved a working Latin vocabulary of 250 words, have a grasp on the basic grammar and syntax of the language, and apply this knowledge towards reading and understanding basic Latin texts.
