St. James Lutheran Classical Academy is a Kindergarten–8th grade school transitioning into a Christ-centered classical education model. Position Summary

St. James Lutheran School is seeking a junior high English teacher as well as a junior high math teacher who understand teaching as a Christian vocation, a calling to form both the minds and hearts of students. These positions may be filled by an LCMS rostered teacher, a candidate for a divine call, or an educator with a Bachelor of Science or Bachelor of Arts degree.


Qualifications & Characteristics

The ideal candidate:

  • Holds (or is eligible for) a Bachelor’s degree in education and meets state licensure requirements

  • Is a committed Christian and active in a Lutheran congregation

  • Desires to teach within a classical Christian framework, including literacy, literature, grammar, and strong elementary mathematics

  • Finds joy in leading students in prayer, devotions, and daily faith formation

  • Demonstrates consistent participation in Word and Sacrament life

  • Applies Law and Gospel in guiding student behavior, relationships, and conflict resolution

  • Works collaboratively with pastors, administration, and fellow teachers

  • Builds strong, respectful partnerships with parents for both academic and spiritual growth

  • Communicates clearly and professionally in all school settings

  • Demonstrates strong classroom management, organization, and instructional skills

  • Is willing to participate fully in the life of the school, including events and activities
