Mrs. Amanda Crabtree
Amanda Crabtree was an early childhood teacher at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church and School in The Woodlands, Texas for four years. She took a leave from teaching (for almost twenty years) to deliberately raise five children, all of whom benefited from a classical Lutheran education in many ways. Mrs. Crabtree has enthusiastically worked at Our Savior Lutheran Church and School now for five lively years, currently serving as one of the Pre-kindergarten teachers. Earning her way towards a degree in theology at Concordia Wisconsin (online) keeps her ridiculously busy. When not working in the classroom or on college coursework, she is either comfortably reading, watching a movie with the family, playing games, or outdoors with her two grandsons.

Bedrock of Classical Education: Building Young Learners From the Ground Up
Early childhood and lower school classical Lutheran educators play a foundational role in the life of the young learner, but what does a lower school classical Lutheran classroom look like? Are you familiar with the ten pedagogical principles? How can you apply them to your daily routine and lesson planning? What is a truth statement and how do I write one? How much should I teach and what should I expect at the grammar level? This sectional will address ways to identify pedagogical principles already at use in the classroom and help the lower school educator implement those principles into their instruction and lesson planning. Educators of our youngest children can easily apply many classical elements into the classroom to provide thorough, intentional, and consistent instruction that will provide a strong foundation for years to come. Join Kindergarten teacher Kim Bohot and Pre-kindergarten teacher Amanda Crabtree as they share practical ways to use pedagogical principles in the classical Lutheran lower school classroom.
