Mr. Nathanael Hahn
Nathanael Hahn is a 5th–8th grade teacher at Trinity Lutheran School in Freistadt, WI. Over the last several years Nathanael has spent time researching historical mathematics and reading primary math texts to better understand what it means to have a classical, Christian mathematics education. He also hosts a monthly online readings group that brings together teachers interested in primary math sources. While off-duty, Nathanael enjoys composing choral music and hymnody, analyzing films, playing board games, reading classic science fiction, solving math problems, and spending time with his family.

A Christian Philosophy of the Mathematical Arts
This presentation/paper will establish a philosophical foundation for math based on Western history and based on Christ—a foundation on which classical Christian math education can be built. This foundation has potential for immediate classroom application, so we will end with a discussion on practical application and time for group conversation.
