Immanuel Lutheran School, a K–8 classical Lutheran academy in Alexandria, VA, is seeking teachers to fill a number of positions for the 2010–11 school year. We need an elementary teacher (FT) as well as  a teacher and an aide (PT positions) to help us open our new Junior Kindergarten (4-year-olds). Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, Moncton, New Brunswick, Canada (just across the border from Maine), is seeking applications and/or nominations for a committed LCMS or LCC Kindergarden or K-1 teacher (preference to rostered) for its new Concordia Academy to open Sept 2010.  Applications by teacher couples or teachers nearing retirement also welcome.  Concordia, eventually K-8, will be the first ever Lutheran school in Atlantic Canada, and is highly anticipated by members of our community.  It will grow out of our existing work though our partners -- a 90-child daycare, Concordia Languages Institute, and our Concordia After-School Programs -- all operating onsite in our brand new building by members of Good Shepherd in concerted support of our school start up.  Experience teaching K-1 is most important, and while administrative experience and knowledge of French is helpful, it is not required as we have this already on site.  We are committed to fair compensation (a little above our LCC East District Guidelines), housing allowance, full LCC Worker Benefits Plans, and a moving fund is available -- we believe it is important to care for our worker so that our worker can express our care to others.  Since the time is short, please direct applications, nominations, recommendations, or questions as quickly as possible to Pastor David Milette at pastor@goodshepherd.nb.ca or call 506-384-9453.  A solidly Lutheran mission adventure, in a beautiful setting right here in North America!

Faith Lutheran High School in Plano, TX is seeking a full-time high school science teacher, for the 2010-2011 school year.  Faith currently has students from 3 years old through grade 10.  We will be adding grade 11 in 2010-2011 and grade 12 in 2011-2012.  We are seeking a teacher for Biology, Chemistry, Physics, and other high school science courses.  We intend to offer these courses at regular, honors/Pre-A.P., and A.P. levels.

We use the classical model to teach a classical curriculum, including Latin, Rhetoric, Logic, and Western Civilization with a heavy emphasis on reading, writing, public speaking, and reading primary sources.  In addition, our teachers are sometimes asked to teach courses outside of their area of specialization and should be well-rounded.

Job Requirements:

  • Member of an LCMS congregation, trained in Scriptures and Lutheran theology, and strong in the understanding and application of confessional Lutheran theology, including a high appreciation for the treasures of Lutheran liturgy and hymns.
  • Completion of at least a bachelors degree with strong preference to those whose major was in the subject(s) they are teaching
  • Faith is an accredited school so we require all full-time staff to carry a valid teaching credential/license
  • Prior teaching experience with preference given in the following order
    • Prior experience teaching both A.P. and regular level high school science courses
    • Prior experience teaching regular level high school science courses
    • Prior experience teaching both A.P. and regular level high school courses in other subjects
    • Prior experience teaching other high school subjects
    • Other teaching experience

If you are interested, please forward a resume to Tim Merritt at tmerritt@faithplanoschool.org.
